Were you THERE when Star Wars first came out? Do you remember the *original* Battle Star Galactica? Did you ever have a Commodore 64 or a Game Boy? (Do you still have it?) Do you still have your physics textbook from 1985? If you answered yes to any of the above, then consider yourself a member! GREENVILLE OLD GEEKS (GOG!) Where we're only "old" chronologically. Come meet up with like minded science and/or fantasy buffs who grew up in the 80s, 70s, or even 60s and earlier. Share life experiences …
We are a group of Star Trek fans in western North Carolina who meet monthly to celebrate Star Trek, play card and board games, watch videos, discuss Star Trek science, and have fun! We are a chapter of STARFLEET, The International Star Trek Fan Association and have been in existence since 1982.
This is a group of writers that are interested in sharing their writing with each other whether fiction or nonfiction, poetry, or memoir. A guest speaker to the monthly meeting would include writers and published authors promoting their books, or speaking on various topics of interest to the group.
Got a few chapters of your sci-fi novel ready for an audience? Maybe you'd like someone to peruse that short memoir you're working on. "Upstate Creative Writers" is a group for anybody who loves to write fiction, nonfiction, poetry - whatever! We meet to critique submissions every other Monday at the Panera Bread in Anderson (there's good space, lighting, seats and free wi-fi). Come learn from and t …
A group for all writers interested in publishing their work. Led by Wolf Hoelscher, owner of Pubmission.com and a former acquisitions editor, this group will talk about getting published in this new digital age, how to submit work, and where to find help for your writing. We can also workshop writing if members are interested in getting honest feedback on their writing. The overall goal, however is to offer support and camaraderie to fellow local writers. The plan is to meet about once a month. …

Calling all book lovers! I love books and I love talking about books. My vision for this book club is that we will all find opportunities to try new books we may not otherwise have read, go back and re-read some of your favorites, and have an open, judgement-free zone where we can talk books, books, and more books! This will be an alcohol-free group, and is open to both men and women. It certainly can be fun to talk about other things but I would like to emphasize actually discussing books at th …

I want to run game nights as often as the members want. My ideas include SciFi Fridays where we watch a science fiction movie and play science fiction games including video games, Rock and Roll Saturday where we play Rock Band and roll dice in tabletop games, and Rachael's RPG Sunday where I host an RPG like Pathfinder in honor of Rachael Goodwin. I am very flexible with days, times, and games. If the game is during a meal time, we can have a potluck, order pizza, or eat at a local restaurant. I …
Creativity, inspiration and imagination must come from within...but none of this will come across on the written page without craft. Whether you are writing your first short story, or working on a 150,000 word manuscript, you'll find yourself needing to have answers to your questions and interaction with other writers. These mini-workshops will keep you on track as you discover and realize your dream of becoming a writer of fine fiction. Subjects we'll be covering during these weekly meetups are …

When I moved to Nashville, I had trouble making new friends. Being a mother of a toddler, working full time and also going to school - I could barely find the time to get out. I started my own book club, and it was a success. Now I would like to begin one in the Tri-Cities as well for when I visit my hometown, as this will be a great way for me to get together with my friends I still have there. So many of my old Tri-Cities friends were always like "I wish your club was here, I'd love to join." …
