Hi All! We all have stories to tell - and everyone loves a good true story (hello This American Life!). The purpose of this meetup is to see if there is any interest in having a public story-telling group, that would meet every two months, venue TBD. The difference between this and an open mic would be that the group would be structured in a two hour format, stories 6-7 mins based on a theme, with the first hour being stories that were previously submitted with a clear beginning, middle, & end. …
This group is for anyone who loves to read and wants to have one day a month to talk about the book with other book lovers! We will talk, discuss, watch, and learn about every title we select to read. In addition to discussing books, we hold volunteers opportunities, social meetups, and more! Join us and meet new people who have the same passion you do!
I recently watched the film version of Pride and Prejudice, and enjoyed it so much I started re-reading the book and watching other Austen movies, including Sense and Sensibility and the recent "The Jane Austen Book Club." I thought it might be fun to join up with other Austen fans in Jax, and perhaps structure a Book Club similar to the one in the film.
We're geeks, sci-fi nerds, cosplayers, LARPers, WoW and D&D addicts, FPSers and RPGers, comic book fans, Trekkies (or Trekkers), and can debate the finer points of Star Wars. We're used to weird looks from our muggle friends. We are wonderfully odd. We welcome the geek-curious.

It's time to take another look at some of those books we read (or pretended to read) in high school or college. If you went to high school in the 40s or 50s, you actually read books! Authors of fiction such as Dickens, Tolstoy, Camus, Kipling, and Elliott are some of the ones to re-consider. Then there's all that nonfiction, of course, especially the ones we were supposed to read in history, social studies, anthropology and philosophy classes. I've discovered that now, as a gray-haired grandma, …

Hi! I wanted to join a book club that consistently offered great reads. It was hard to find. I set the goal once for myself to read every book that has won a Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. If you are interested in discussing great reads, let's get together.
