25 Meetup Groups match “Fiction” near San Diego, CA
This meetup group is for fans of the BBC science fiction television program, "Doctor Who". As a relatively new Whovian, I'm terribly jealous of the Doctor Who meetup community I've had opportunity to connect with in San Antonio. My hope is that we can build a similarly fun, community in San Diego. Jump in now, while it's just getting started, and help define where we take this. I'll schedule our first meet and greet, once this metaphorical TARDIS has other occupants.

This group is not for the faint of heart, nor for the dabblers. If you're a novice, this group will give you the knowledge to become a professional writer. If you're a professional writer, the seminars about every aspect of being a professional writer will inspire you. We bring seasoned writers of all genres TO YOU …

The New York Review of Books has a Book Club selecting a fiction classic each month. I'd like to get together with other displaced Easterners (or those in spirit) in the La Jolla area once a month to discuss the latest NYRB selection - accompanied by California wine, to be fair to both coasts.
This group is for dedicated readers and knowledge seekers who want to learn more about the world we live in. Knowledge is, after all, power, and having facts and figures to back up arguments is never a bad thing. Ideally this group will meet once a month too discuss a book of the month. We can read both fiction and non-fiction, and the literature we read need not be political. The overall aim of the group will be to enrich ourselves with knowledge and get together to share this knowledge.
OK, so coffee is optional. But if you love books and live near Del Mar / Carmel Valley (or are willing to drive to Del Mar / Carmel Valley), let's get together and talk about books! I tend towards non-fiction / fantasy / young adult fiction, but am happy to broaden my horizons.
You will be able to RSVP for our events 1 week prior to them. Meet kindred book lovers in a local Meetup Book Club! Fiction or non-fiction, paperback or hardcover, you'll read a new book every month. Come to laugh, share stories and make new friends! Each month we will select a book that takes place in another culture (or American subculture) and meet in a cafe or restaurant (in the SD area) connected to the theme of the book to enjoy food and discuss the book. Come to laugh, share stories and …
East Hell Writers has a special place reserved for you...er...your written voice. Join our critiqued read and respond sessions. If you have a story to tell, we'd like to hear it! We meet all but the third Tuesday of the month here at my place.
Love to write? Of course you do. Like to perform? That's a rhetorical question. Want to share your stories with other writers? Why am I even asking? Dime Stories are 3-minutes stories (prose, not poetry) read by the author. They’re funny. They’re heart-rending. Fictional or factual, they’re always true. Bring your Dime Story to read to a live audience at any of our open mics. Beware: Three-minute rule (that’s about 500 words) is strictly enforced. Since before 3-Minute Fiction on NPR, Dime Story …

I am looking for a few good readers to engage in great conversation over a nice glass of wine. I would like to read all sorts of books from fascinating fiction to noteworthy non-fiction. In other words, I like to learn about new topics, but I also love to discuss human nature as presented through cleverly crafted novels. I expect that our chosen books will sometimes be central in the discussion, and sometimes will be touchstones for other interesting conversations. The group is open to any free- …
Greetings! Welcome to the Active Lifestyle Nerds Meetup community. This meetup was designed to bring out your inner-nerd and introduce it to other inner-nerds around your area---with a slight twist. Let’s face it, the average person in a bar, club, or other common area where people socialize, often lacks the level of nerdism needed to have a good Fire Fly conversation or a discussion of “who shot first” (it was definitely Han Solo, folks). This group is designed for the person that loves techno …

NLPToday goal is to attract a group of people committed enough to themselves and finally not having an excuse where their business is, because together we are going to collaborate to get you to higher ground. Many people are interested in using NLP in their roles as coaches, business and sales people, and therapists. From the mid 1980's NLP has amassed a very large number of tools and approaches. It is not a single theory. It draws from any successful person or practice that it can "model." Over …

Poe, Orwell, Dickens, Wilde, Holmes, Steinbeck, King, Hemingway – sound interesting? Welcome to The Classics book club. Join me in diving into many of the great authors of the 19th, and 20th centuries. If you love great literature, join us for our monthly book club discussion so we can revisit (or even explore for the first time) some of the greatest literary works history has to offer.
I love to read. I also love to dine out on Sunday mornings - breakfast, not brunch. On the 4th Sunday of every month, members of the group will meet for breakfast at 9:30 a.m. to discuss the book chosen. The new book for the next month will be announced at the current meeting. There will be a $1.00 charge per member for each meeting which will be collected at the meeting.
We discuss science fiction and fantasy in literature, media, gaming, and art, and attend local conventions, signings, readings, movies, museum shows, science lectures, and more. We have Book/Comic/Game/Media Swaps in November, March and July.
